Project 365 is back on again. Tonight at Light Study we photographed dogs on a white background. I have some notes on that. When doing a white background or a perfect white background make sure that your light is even across the back. Then you want to place bookend reflectors across the front so that you don't get a lot of light spill back into the lens of the camera. Your meter should be about half a stop above your subject. Too much is going to drown out your subject into the background with spill. Tonight we didn't take the light all the way down to the floor but the next time I shoot perfect white background I will include my notes. About this shot it is taken with my trusty Nikon D90 at f1.8 and ISO of 800. I remember in my early days I never wanted to take the camera off of ISO 100 or 200 because the noise was irritating for me. The D90 however handles higher ISOs with no problem. I am looking forward to the replacement the D7000 that is to be announced at Photokina on the 21st of September. I really want the full frame D700 but the cost is prohibitive and I am holding out on Nikon's latest iteration of FX cameras. I am looking forward to doing the 365 project. I have scaled some things back in my life and I will actually take some time to enjoy it. And hopefully make some great photos.
